Hello My Name Is...
Mrs. Frey

I am extremely happy to be a second grade teacher at Johnson this year! As much as I love to learn about my students; it is equally important for my students to learn about me. I believe that one of the most important characteristics I possess is my motivation to be a life-long learner and reader -- one of the most important characteristics that I try to instill in my students. My education journey began long ago when attending Fort Osage High School. After graduation, I went on to college attending the Longview branch of the area's community colleges and eventually transferring to William Jewell. I was able to complete a bachelors degree in Business Administration. For several years, I worked as a Human Resources professional, advising clients of their employee benefit plans. It was not until after I had my youngest son who was later diagnosed with autism, that I realized in order to serve him as a parent, I needed to support him with educational strategies that could be used at home. For this reason, I enrolled in an educational program at Rockhurst University. In May 2008, I achieved a Masters in Education after completing student teaching in two local suburban districts. I am happy to have found such a rewarding career that allows me to work and shape the minds of our youth. I believe that second grade is a time when children are becoming independent learners and it is a wonderful experience to watch them grow!
